ECBAWM Partner Diane L. Houk interviewed for Capital Press Room on Preserving Housing Discrimination Protections

  • September 3, 2025

On August 29, 2025, ECBAWM Partner Diane L Houk was interviewed by the Capital Press Room, and explained how fair housing organizations, like ECBAWM clients the Fair Housing Justice Center, Westchester Residential Opportunities, Long Island Housing Services, CNY Fair Housing, and Home of Buffalo are fighting to protect New Yorkers from discrimination based on source of income, including housing vouchers.

The interview touches on the future of the New York State Human Rights Law’s protections from discrimination against tenants with vouchers, now being tested in state Appellate Courts, and dives into ECBAWM’s recent amicus brief on behalf of these five housing organizations urging the court to overturn a lower court ruling finding the law unconstitutional. ECBAWM will continue to fight for tenants’ rights and we are proud of the work Diane L. Houk continues to do in the fight for fair housing.
