Toby joined ECBAWM in 2023 as a Paralegal. Prior to joining the Firm, she worked at Youth Represent, a non-profit legal service organization providing holistic re-entry support to youth involved in the criminal legal system in all five boroughs. While at YR, Toby was responsible for helping hundreds of clients obtain and understand their criminal history, as well as assisting with other collateral consequences that come as a result of criminal involvement. Toby also has previous experience interning with several legal non-profits, including Youth Justice Network in their Miller Center for Special Mitigation, as well as the Atlantic Center for Capital Representation, a Philadelphia-based organization providing legal services to people on death row.
Toby graduated magna cum laude in 2022 from Barnard College, where she majored in American Studies. While at Barnard, Toby completed a senior thesis on the racial and economic implications of NYC subway advertisements. She was eventually awarded the John Demos Prize, given to one graduating senior each year “in recognition of their excellence in the American Studies major.” She was also the recipient of the Arthur Liman Public Interest Fellowship at Yale Law School, which provides funding for students interested in pursuing careers in social justice advocacy and public interest law.
