Federal Judge Denies Summary Judgment Motion Filed by Apartment Building Superintendent’s Wife
- March 9, 2011
Federal District Court Judge McMahon denied a motion for summary judgment filed by the wife of an Astoria, Queens apartment building superintendent in a race discrimination case filed by ECBAWM on behalf of African American testers and a fair housing organization against the owners and managers of the building. Judge McMahon found that federal, state, and local fair housing laws that prohibit discrimination applied to the superintendent’s wife even though she was not an employee or agent of the owner. The plaintiffs are represented by Eisha Jain and Diane L. Houk.
