Union of Students and Faculty File Amicus Brief in Harvard Litigation

  • October 9, 2025

New York, NY – On October 6, 2025, ECBAWM and State Democracy Defenders Fund filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW)—which represents more than 120,000 workers in higher education, including graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, researchers, university staff, and faculty—in litigation brought by Harvard University against the Department of Homeland Security and others.

Harvard’s case, now before the First Circuit, seeks to enjoin the administration from invalidating visas that allow foreign national students and workers to attend Harvard.  UAW’s brief explains how the administration’s fluctuations in immigration policy towards Harvard are undermining American competitiveness, destabilizing students and faculty, and chilling civic life.

The case caption is President and Fellows of Harvard College v. United States Department of Homeland Security et al., No. 25-01627 (First Circuit). Read the amicus brief here.
