On August 14, 2025, TRT World, an international public broadcaster, published a video covering ECBAWM’s ongoing lawsuit representing CAIR-NY, Zarmeen Azam, and Shajnin Howlader after NYPD brutally ripped off Ms. Azam and Ms. Howlader’s hijabs during a protest last fall, and then proceeded to strangle them with their hijabs. The video features interviews with ECBAWM Partner O. Andrew F. Wilson, and Associate Hafsa S. Mansoor, who are litigating the case, as well as with Ms. Azam and Ms. Howlader.

The lawsuit seeks injunctive relief to prevent the NYPD from continuing this practice, and damages for the assault and First Amendment violations. See the video coverage here.
