Sana Mayat

Sana Mayat joined the firm in 2022. Prior to joining ECBAWM, Ms. Mayat was the Nadine Strossen Fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union’s National Security Project where she litigated cases challenging post-9/11 policies and programs that disproportionately harm communities of color, including surveillance, inhumane detention, and watchlisting.

Ms. Mayat received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2020. During law school, she was a student advocate at the East Bay Community Law Center’s Immigration Clinic and co-chaired the Women of Color Collective. Ms. Mayat worked with the International Refugee Assistance Project where she provided direct legal services to refugees from Afghanistan and Syria. She also worked with the Dilley Pro Bono Project, where she prepared clients for credible fear determination interviews at a south Texas detention center. Ms. Mayat received her B.A. in Political Science and Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies from New York University.
